Overview

Hubo is a personal finance app that helps you connect your bank accounts, track transactions, and understand your cash flow. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Data We Collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo, provided when you sign in with Google.
  • Bank account data — account names, types, balances, and masked account numbers, retrieved via Plaid when you link a bank.
  • Transaction data — transaction amounts, dates, merchant names, and categories, retrieved via Plaid from your linked accounts.
  • User-generated data — custom categories, labels, notes, automations, and other preferences you create within the app.
  • Subscription data — your subscription status and renewal date, processed through Apple's App Store.

How We Use Your Data

  • To display your accounts, balances, and transaction history in the app.
  • To apply automations and categorization rules you configure.
  • To generate cash flow summaries across your linked accounts.
  • To verify your subscription and grant access to premium features.
  • To keep your data in sync across devices.

We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app for your personal use.

Third-Party Services

  • Plaid — used to securely connect your bank accounts. Your banking credentials are entered directly with Plaid and are never seen or stored by Hubo. Plaid's privacy policy applies to data shared through their service.
  • Firebase (Google) — used for authentication, cloud storage (Firestore), and backend functions. Your data is stored in Google's secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Apple App Store — handles all subscription purchases and billing. Hubo does not store your payment information.

Data Security

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore and protected by Firebase security rules that restrict access to your own account only. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We do not store your bank login credentials — these are handled entirely by Plaid.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the address below and we will process your request promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
